West County Health Center

This new 2-story, 53,300 SF OSHPD 3 primary care clinic was constructed to serve the ever expanding needs of Contra Costa County. This full range community clinical facility was designed to house physical and occupational therapy, dental, ophthalmology, otolaryngology, state-of-the-art radiology and laboratory wing, pharmacy, as well as records and administrative support spaces.

The high energy efficient, easy to maintain HVAC system includes variable air volume packaged rooftop units with DX coils; individual supply and return fan sections, and MERV 14 media filter for optimum air filtration. An air distribution system including variable air volume boxes with hot water reheat was engineered to meet the cooling and heating needs of the occupants. The hot water piping system includes high-efficiency boilers connecting to the hydronic piping loop serving the heating coils at the terminal units. A DDC energy management system was provided to allow central monitoring of the electric and gas meters for County operations and maintenance personal. A dedicated split system air conditioning unit serves the IDF/Communication Room and Elevator Equipment Room to maintain the desired temperature during occupied and unoccupied hours.
