UC Davis Advanced Transportation Infrastructure Center

The UC Davis Advanced Transportation Infrastructure Research Center project was designed to house the UC Pavement Research Center and the Advanced Highway Maintenance and Construction Technology Research Center.

Research includes accelerated pavement testing of new types of materials and pavement structures using the heavy vehicle simulators, laboratory specimen preparation, testing, and analyses.

Air conditioning is provided by a wall heat pump unit, horizontal gas furnace, direct evaporative coolers and a suspended natural gas fired unit heater, all of which are controlled by a direct digital control system. Special needs of the facility also require a central air compressor, refrigerated air dryer, dedicated vehicle exhaust system, deflection device room, and welding exhaust hood. Plumbing is provided by an adjacent main, and lavatories are equipped with low-flow, dual flush toilets for water conservation.
